Thomas Winship, The Bible’s Flat Earth Revelation

“I have to repeat, again and again, that the Scriptures
and nature are connected, as will appear to any impartial
inquirer; those who will not take the pains to study them
both, will remain fools, whether I say so or not. The not
attending to this connexion has been the cause of that
contempt with which the Scripture has been treated.
Suppose we view the dial plate of a watch, we see the hand
point to the hour, by a mechanism to us invisible; but we
find a book wherein the inward structure of the watch or
clock is described ; we are at a loss whether to believe it or
not ; we know not whether it be true or false. How then
shall we prove its truth ! By taking the machine to pieces,
and examining its works ; if the book and the machine
exactly agree, and the former be an accurate description of
the latter, the inference must be, that either the maker of
the machine wrote the book, or revealed the mechanism
of it to him who did. This is absolutely the case between
the Bible and nature. And if this examination were firmly,
and candidly, and intelligently carried through, the numbers
of our foolish philosophers would soon be diminished, and
their specious system utterly confounded. Moses and the
Prophets never revealed the proper frame of a mouse -trap
or the size of a bird cage, because they knew the star gazers
would not heed such trifles, nor find any credit in
constructing such things. But Moses and the Prophets did,
by the inspiration and dictation of God, reveal to mankind
the framework and mechanism of nature, which must have
remained for ever inscrutable, but for such direct revelation ;
and which mode and plan of creation, when thus made
known, appears true upon the highest demonstration the
rational mind can demand !”

The Flat Earth History of Science, Chap. 1, The Beginnings of Human Science After the Flood

The Beginnings of Human Science

We see in the first few chapters of the Bible that man’s first science was Horticulture as Adam was commissioned with in the Garden of Eden.

We see in the sixth chapter of the book of Genesis that Noah had skill and knowledge in dry distillation and firing which he used to make pitch, as well as mathematics, and basic Geometry which he used to build his legendary Ark.

After the flood came the tower of babel. The account given in Genesis 11 again denotes the focus on dry distillation and firing. We read:

3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews – Book I, Chapter 4,

“2. Now it was Nimrod who excited them to such an affront and contempt of God. He was the grandson of Ham, the son of Noah, a bold man, and of great strength of hand. He persuaded them not to ascribe it to God, as if it was through his means they were happy, but to believe that it was their own courage which procured that happiness. He also gradually changed the government into tyranny, seeing no other way of turning men from the fear of God, but to bring them into a constant dependence on his power. He also said he would be revenged on God, if he should have a mind to drown the world again; for that he would build a tower too high for the waters to be able to reach! and that he would avenge himself on God for destroying their forefathers !

3. Now the multitude were very ready to follow the determination of Nimrod, and to esteem it a piece of cowardice to submit to God; and they built a tower, neither sparing any pains, nor being in any degree negligent about the work: and, by reason of the multitude of hands employed in it, it grew very high, sooner than any one could expect; but the thickness of it was so great, and it was so strongly built, that thereby its great height seemed, upon the view, to be less than it really was. It was built of burnt brick, cemented together with mortar, made of bitumen, that it might not be liable to admit water. When God saw that they acted so madly, he did not resolve to destroy them utterly, since they were not grown wiser by the destruction of the former sinners; but he caused a tumult among them, by producing in them divers languages, and causing that, through the multitude of those languages, they should not be able to understand one another. The place wherein they built the tower is now called Babylon, because of the confusion of that language which they readily understood before; for the Hebrews mean by the word Babel, confusion.”

Thus, we see in primeval Babylon the knowledge of dry distillation and firing, Mathematics and Geometry, no doubt as passed on by Noah.

Here the tribes of humanity descended from the sons of Noah, wandered the world in confusion and darkness as a result of their sin and scattered about from the mountains of Babel (Gen. 11:9) and the mountains of Ararat(Gen. 8:4) which the mighty Ark had rested. See Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews, Book 1, Chapters 5 and 6.

This view of the decent of man, instead of the Darwinian ascent of man, from a golden age at the creation is a narrative supported by the history of all the ancient peoples and mountains of evidence.

1. As we have already seen the evidence and historical testimony for Noah’s flood is insurmountable.

2. It has been shown recently that human beings are losing DNA and that the ancients had more DNA.dna

3. The discovery of the Antikythera mechanism proves that the ancients had high technology.

4. John Clark Ridpath documents the many examples of ancient Civilizations devolving into obscurity from pages 376-379 of Vol. 1 of his Universal History.

5. The ancient languages are more advanced than their derivations.

Ridpath, Universal History, Vol. 1, pg. 379

From this time of man’s fall from his golden beginning, until man’s first kingdoms in Chaldea and Egypt man lived in his Post-Flood and Post-Tower of Babel confusion- primeval barbarism as hunters and nomads, a sad state of affairs that man to this day still pines for in his libertarian childishness.

Ridpath, Universal History, Vol. 1 pg. 279

For an introduction to Primitive technology I would suggest the YouTube channel by that very name Primitive Technology as his videos are an excellent introduction to this era of human development.

Ridpath tells us, in Vol. 1 pg. 368 that the first step from Barbarism to Civilization is a recognition of a tribe’s Collective Identity, which produces a History.  The second step is the use of Metals.

This technology then gives the tribe the ability to express their collective history through stone engravings and stone monuments.

This transition from Barbarism to Early Civilization is known today as the Neolithic era.

Thus, nine generations from Noah, Abraham (Born 2034 B.C. according to Anstey and 1996 B.C. according to Ussher), the son of Terah came out of Ur of the Chaldees(Gen. 11:31), with his family and, came to Haran in modern day Eastern Turkey. When he was 75 years old Elohim called Abraham out of Haran from his Father’s house (Gen. 12:4) to the land of Canaan. After suffering famine in the land of Canaan, Abraham visited Egypt which had cultivated the science of animal husbandry. (Gen. 12:16.)

Thus, Ridpath testifies to the accuracy of the Bible’s account of history, recording the beginnings of man’s technology in Chaldea and Egypt, in Volume 9 pg. 123 of his famous Universal History:

Thus, the beginning of man’s Civilized Science comprised of agriculture and architecture, the plow and the hammer. The essential philosophical motivations for the departure from Barbarism to Civilization is mostly concerned with a dominionist anthropology instead of the libertarian anthropology of Barbarism and secondly, as we have already seen, an ethnic collectivism. The first languages of the ancient world comprise the Cuneiform.

The ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics:

Hiraroglyphics1And the Egyptian demotic script.

At this stage of Human progress the houses of the common people were made of palm trees and plaster.  Basically the making of plaster requires the collection of stone in a quarry and its Firing, its crushing and mixing with water and sand. The later developments of human architecture were triggered by man’s desire to build more extravagant temples for the gods.  This process required the perfecting of firing and thus came the invention of the kiln.

Unfortunately for the Chaldeans, the abundance of stone quarries paled in comparison to Egypt which is why the monuments and Pyramids of Egypt stand today while the structures of an ancient Chaldea are primarily known through histories and reconstructed facades.

The primary source for our knowledge of Chaldean History and Science come from a series of tablets found by Austen Henry Layard, the Library of Ashurbanipal.

Due to the clear night sky in the Chaldean land, the Chaldeans were the first Astronomers and  Chronologers.

From this point the Base 60 Numeral System and the Sumerian Mathematics developed. Sedgwick and Tyler state on page 24 of their A Short History of Science,

The original Astronomy of Egypt is comprehended in their original Luni-stellar Calendar which divided the year into twelves months by the phases of the moon but determined the New Year by the flooding of the Nile river and the Heliacal rising of Sirius or as they call it Sothis. We read in The Calendars of Ancient Egypt by Richard A. Parker, (The University of Chicago Press, Studies in Ancient Oriental Civilization: No. 26), pg. 31:

The next major Scientific accomplishment would be with Sneferu and Khufu of the Egyptian 4th Dynasty who began the building of the ancient pyramids.

Professor Bob Brier argues that the original peoples of Ancient Egypt are the Coptic peoples. He bases this on the fact that the original Demotic language of Ancient Egypt has been preserved down to today by the Liturgies of the Coptic Church in Egypt. Brier argued that the Coptic language was instrumental in translating the Ancient Egyptian language (Not to be confused with Hieroglyphs) from the Rosetta Stone. (Great Courses, Lecture 5, pg. 14-15). Speaking of the legendary Egyptian Pharaoh Sesostris, usually identified with a 12th Dynasty Pharaoh, Herodotus explains the origin of Geometry, in his Histories Book 2,

“109. For this reason Egypt was cut up; and they said that this king distributed the land to all the Egyptians, giving an equal square portion to each man, and from this he made his revenue, having appointed them to pay a certain rent every year: and if the river should take away anything from any man’s portion, he would come to the king and declare that which had happened, and the king used to send men to examine and to find out by measurement how much less the piece of land had become, in order that for the future the man might pay less, in proportion to the rent appointed: and I think that thus the art of geometry was found out and afterwards came into Hellas also. For as touching the sun-dial and the gnomon and the twelve divisions of the day, they were learnt by the Hellenes from the Babylonians.”

From the Mathematics and Geometry worked out by Sneferu and Khufu in the 4th Dynasty, Egypt developed its Math and Geometry as can be seen in the Moscow Mathematical Papyrus and the Rhind Mathematical Papyrus where we find a developed Mathematics, Geometry and even Algebra.

Basic Egyptian Clocks were the Sun-Dial and the Water Clock. Sedgwick and Tyler state on page 21 of their A Short History of Science,

sedwickegyptA 13th Century B.C. Egyptian Sun-Dial was discovered in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings.Sundial

Here is an example of an ancient Egyptian Water Clock.

A water clock is a device where time is measured simply by the flow of liquid into or out from a vessel and the amount is then measured.

But what of Stonehenge? John Clark Ridpath states, in Vol. 1 pg. 335-336,

The Biblical Astronomy and Calendar

1.The beginning of the year is with the vernal equinox and the ripe abib.

Gen. 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Jeremiah 31:35 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night

Exo. 12: 1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying, 2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

Deut. 16: 1 Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the Lord thy God: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.

2. The new month is determined by the moon. Thus the word chodesh is used synonymously for new moon and month in scripture.

The new year began this year with the 29th of March at evening making it the 1st day of the new year. The moon luminates at 1.8 % this night which is visible by the naked eye. Thus, if we count at evening from the 29th at evening, the 14th day of the first month is then April 12th at evening.

Thus, the ancient history of man and his Scientific development giving special attention to man’s Origins, Language,  Mathematics, Geometry and Astronomy.
